2. Extra air bags

When smart cars first appeared on the market, smart car owners who were involved in motor accidents did not have a lot of protection. As your average smart car is a lot smaller than a traditional car. In order to offer customers more protection in the event of an accident, the designers of the 2017 Smart Fortwo significantly increased the number of the Smart Fortwo’s air bags.

As an example, each new Smart Fortwo is kitted out with side head air bags and rear head bags, which are designed to cushion your head in the event of a collision. If you’re interested in information about what to do if you’re ever involved in an auto incident, you can find it here.

To increase drivers’ visibility at night, the designers of the Smart Fortwo chose to incorporate an automotive night vision system, which utilizes an innovative thermographic camera, to increase drivers’ range of visibility. The Smart Fortwo’s night vision system can also be used to increase visibility in inclement weather such as mist, hail and snow.

5. Lane departure warning

If you drift out of your chosen lane accidentally, your Smart Fortwo vehicle will notify you to get back in the center of your lane, by giving you an audio alert. Lane departure warning systems have become increasingly popular as car designers have looked for innovative ways to prevent collisions. Particularly on highways, where drivers can become distracted by fatigue or by the actions of other drivers.

The newest Smart Fortwo boasts handy blind sport monitors, which alert you when you’re too close to another vehicle or a potential obstacle such as a wall.
