Analysts predict Stagecoach bid for Natex

Stagecoach trading statement shows UK bus business growth of 2% while Megabus revenue is up 7% in US

Analysts have predicted that a Stagecoach bid for National Express, which has a major presence in the North American and Spanish bus markets, could be on the cards.

The prediction by global financial services firm UBS came in response to an interim trading statement for the 12 weeks to July 25, which saw a revenue rise of just under 7% for its North American coach operation Megabus, compared to a 2% growth of its UK bus business, like-for-like.

 

 

Shaws of Maxey boss backs Cameron’s tourism aim

David Cameron says UK not making the most of tourism

The boss of Cambridgeshire family-run coach operator Shaws of Maxey has welcomed the Prime Minister's aim to put Britain in the top five of tourism destinations.

David Cameron – who is taking his holiday in Cornwall this year – said tourism in Britain had been "looked down on as a second-class service sector for too long." He said tourism was one of the best and fastest ways to generate new jobs, and pledged a massive effort to put the "great" back in Britain.
